A born and bred Bay Area native, Doctor Q. has been making music all his life. He has been a songwriter, singer, and keyboardist with many bands including Screaming Skull, Electric Dick and the Love Commandos (featruing Dick Smothers Jr.), Pillars of Jeleaux, Various Artists, and is a founding member of Svelte. His solo projects have also appeared under the names Subaqueousautocannibalism, Death by Disco, Pimp, and Dr. Pimp. In one incarnation or another, he has performed throughout the Bay Area and Los Angeles, including such venues as the Catalyst, the Starry Plough, the Boomerang, the Cabaret, the Omni, the Q-tip at the Epicenter Zone, Josie's Juice Joint and Cabaret, and more. His songs have been played on various commercial and college radio stations throughout North America and Europe.

Under the guise of his secret identity, the Doctor received a Ph. D. with Distinction in Music Composition from U. C. Berkeley (yes, he's a real doctor!) and a Bachelor of Music in Composition Magna Cum Laude from U.S.C. His classical music has been performed by the Arditti String Quartet, the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, and various ensembles throughout the United States and Europe.
